Terms and Conditions of the 12th Singapore Open Dance Championship

CHAMPIONSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. TICKETS
    1. Competitors competing on 16th of December are entitled to free entry to the Ballroom.
    2. Competitors not competing on the 17th of December are required to purchase Dinner Tickets/ Standing Tickets for evening admission.
    3. Competitors competing on 16th November2024 but not on 17th November 2024 are required to purchase dinner tickets for entry to the Ballroom on 17th November 2024.
    4. Competitors competing on 17th November2024 but not on 16th November 2024 are required to purchase day tickets for entry to the Ballroom on 16th November 2024.
  2. RULES, TERMS & CONDITIONS
    1. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to change and/or cancel any event without prior notice.
    2. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to amend any terms and conditions should it deem necessary at its own discretion without prior notice.
    3. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to refuse entry into the Championship of any Competitor or Spectator who has demonstrated uncivil or unacceptable behavior towards theChampionship Organizer, its representatives, guests, employees and/or other competitors/spectators in previous championships, and/or any encounters leading up the 2023 Championships.
    4. In the Teacher/Student event, the teacher can only be an Amateur For the purposes of this championship, an “amateur” teacher is defined as a dance teacher who has not (1) competed in any professional category at any competition, (2) competed as the “professional” (“pro”) in any professional-amateur (“pro-am”) category at any competition and/or (3) marketed, advertised, represented or portrayed himself/herself as a professional dance instructor, teacher, performer or partner. In any event where a teacher’s amateur status is in doubt and the Championship Organizer is unpersuaded as to the amateur status of the teacher, the determination of the teacher’s status as either a professional or an amateur is at the sole discretion of the Championship Organiser. The Championship Organiser’s determination will be final and binding for the purposes of the Singapore Open Dance Championship 2024.
    5. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to refuse entries with unknown status.
    6. All entries are subjected to the organizer’s approval. Any change in entries must be communicated to the organizers in writing, and must be approved and confirmed by the organizer,minimum 14 days prior to the competition. Example: Change of partners, etc.
    7. No change of partner is allowed in the same event.
    8. All entry fees are non-transferable and non-refundable at any stage.
    9. All competitors must be present for their events on time. Latecomers will be disqualified.
    10. Beginner, Novice, Pre-Amateur, Rising Star, Amateur and Professional events competitors must be 16 years old and above. Junior and Juvenile competitors may not enter the Amateur Open/Closed AP, Pre-Amateur Open, Novice A & B, Beginner One Dance, Adult Solo and Professional events. The organizer reserves the right to decline entry for competitors who are under 16 years of age in these events.
    11. Strict compliance with the age requirements of the following categories will be followed:
      • Senior Over 35: Male & female dancers must both be 35 or above.
      •  Combined age 70: Male & Female dancers together age must be 70 or above.
      • Senior Over 45: Male dancers must be 45 or above and female dancers must be 35 or above.
      •  Combined age 90: Male & Female dancers together age must be 90 or above.
      • Senior Over 55: Male dancers must be 55 or above and female dancers must be 45 or above.
      • Senior Over 65: Male dancers must be 65 or above and female dancers must be 50 or above.
    12. For Youth, Junior & Juvenile events, age limits are taken as of the 2023 calendar year, regardless of whether the competitor’s birthday has passed.
    13. The judges’ decisions shall be final. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any competitor attempting to challenge the judges’ decisions.
    14. In the event of any question or matter arising out of any point which is not expressively provided for in the rules, the Championship Organizer and its representatives shall exercise its authority. At its own discretion. The Championship Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any competitor attempting to challenge the Championship Organizer and its representatives’ authority.
    15. The Professional Closed Asia Pacific and Amateur Closed Asia Pacific events are only open to competitors from South-East Asian countries, China, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Australia and other countries typically defined to be included in the “Asia Pacific” region.
    16. The Organizer will not be held liable and/or accept any liabilities, claims for injuries, damages or losses suffered by any competitors.
    17. The Organizer will not be held liable and/or accept any claims for financial or material benefits in connection with publicity of the Championship.
    18. Any threats (whether direct or indirect), disrespect, and /or challenges to these rules and/or the decisions of the Championship Organiser made by the Championship Event, the Championship Organiser, the organizing committee, its representatives, guests, employees and/or other competitors/spectators will result in disqualification from the Championship Event at the discretion of the Championship Organiser.
    19. Multiple entries will be charged in accordance with the fees from each category.
    20. Tailcoats are not allowed in the Beginner event. Beginner competitors must dance basic figures only.
    21. Late entries submitted after 9 October 2024 will be for reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the Championship Organizer, and a late fee of S$60 per entry shall apply. Overseas competitors, who compete in the Professional Open/Amateur Open, if accepted, will not be entitled to any provision of accommodation (if otherwise eligible).
    22. To protect the interests of the competition, organizers and future competitors, competitors receiving the complimentary accommodation MUST COMPLETE the competition and respective events for this term to be valid. Any “no-shows” due to the breaking of partnership and/or unforeseen circumstances will disqualify the competitor(s) from redeeming their complimentary accommodation, and the registered competitors will be billed accordingly.
    23. Registration and entry fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of the nature of the unforeseen circumstances as each registration carries its own administrative, logistics and coordination arrangements.
    24. Registered competitors must compete – competition entries must not be used as spectatorship day-entry tickets. Disciplinary actions will be taken against any competitors found flouting this rule, including but not limited to bans from future events/championships, and a report being made against the competitor’s regulatory/professional dance authority.
    25. The competition and organizers seek to ensure a professional and enjoyable competition for all stakeholders. Any competitors who encounter any unforeseen circumstance must communicate their challenges to the organizers as early as possible. Each request will be assessed individually. The organizer reserves the right to its final decision at its sole discretion.
  3. NUMBER TAGS
    1. All competitors will be issued with number tag(s) for their respective events.
    2. Each issued registered number tag comes with a refundable security deposit of S$10 each and MUST be given upon registration.
    3. Issued number tags must be returned by the end of the competition at 2230hours, 17 November 2024, Sunday to the Number Tag Officer. Failure to do so will result in the security deposit being forfeited. No delayed returns or delayed security deposit refunds will be entertained.
