欢快的舞曲前日在新达城的国际会议与展览中心奏响了一整天。因为新加坡2001国际公开标准舞锦标赛就在这里举行。

来自澳洲、中国、法国26个国家的1 70名舞林高手使出浑身解数，一较高低。柔美的华尔兹，动感十足的恰恰舞，奔騰跳跃的快四步，具有巴西风情的桑巴舞，还有活泼的牛仔舞一一参赛者们用各自的方式演绎着对舞蹈的热爱。

这项由J &J舞蹈学院主办的赛事分成专业、业余和少丿I组。比赛结果将影响各国选手的世界排名。

这项东南亚最大规模公开赛于去年首次展开。今年的比赛不仅设置了多达1 7个不同组别的项目，参加者的水平也都不相上下。

11名国际裁判站在赛场四周，密切注视着每位选手的每一个动作细节。他们从技巧、风格、服装等各方面为选手打分。

获得业余组拉丁舞比赛的冠军本内特和莉利亚就表示：第一名和第二名的水平差距很小。选手们的舞步都非常娴熟，所以能否取胜有时还要碰运气，看裁判们喜欢哪种风格。

这对年轻搭档曾在去年的比赛中获得冠军。今年他们卫冕成功，再次摘下业余组拉丁舞的桂冠。问及制胜法宝，他们表示，除了苦练外，还要用心去跳舞，感应彼此的内心世界。这样才能形成默契的配合。

年龄最小舞者只有10岁

在参赛的绅士淑女中，从60岁的乐龄人士到1 0岁的娃娃都有。进入少儿组决赛的选手们年龄最大的也不过 1 5岁。别看他们年级小，舞功照样高。恰恰、桑巴、牛仔，三支舞跳毕，在场的观众全都给予热烈的掌声。这个组别的冠军最后被一对远道而来的乌克兰选手弗拉季斯拉夫和安娜夺得。比赛结束后，社会发展及体育部长阿都拉不仅为获奖选手颁了奖。还兴致勃勃地与观众同乐，大展舞技。
